This series of images began as a narrative experiment using public domain characters from L. Frank Baum’s Oz books. As with most things at LOUCHE.art, they quickly evolved into something stranger, more feral, and much less nostalgic.
In this storyboard sequence, Dorothy is no longer an innocent farm girl. She’s a surreal avatar of consumption, consequence, and silver stilettos. Toto bounces beside her, an emissary of chaos. The Yellow Brick Road has become a tangle of industrial springs. The Hammerhead Kingdom? Imagine Candyland reimagined by Cronenberg.
These aren’t literal illustrations for Abernathy Titwhistle. They are psychic scaffolding. This is what the story feels like before it’s written—an unholy fusion of Midwestern mythology, body horror, and narrative decay.
